Mark & Ray (Bryran to come later)

20th March 2026

After arriving at Leeds Airport, we hired a car to get to YSS Caving Hut. We decided to try to get some sleep for an hour or two before we head out caving. Mark fell asleep, while I couldn't do so. When Mark arose out of his beauty sleep, we geared up and headed over to Runscar Hill to do some easier in-and-out surface-type caves, which we thought were just walking passages, but there seemed to be a fair bit of crawling to some of them for sure.

We checked our Roger Kirk Cave, then over to Thistle Cave, out into Runscar Caves and up to Scar top cave, which ended in a small choked area. After we walked across the road and searched for the reef cave, but I think we were too far left to find it. Following the river up and back to the road, we did come across some sumped-like areas.

Back to the car, changed and to the hut, tidied the caving stuff away, got food and headed to the near by pub for drink, where it was made known that Bryan had some issues with the car rental place and was now stuck in Leeds, with us having a drink and not able to collect him, he got some trains and taxis to get to the area, where he met us at the pub just at closing time.

The following morning 9 am awaking to head over to Clapham for the CNCC AGM meeting, where the club was accepted as a Club member to the council.

Plan for the evening is Swintos Cave Pull though and Gapping Gill via Bar pot for Sunday and Home on Monday.

Mark and Bryan will or should be doing up the reports for these trips.

Ray
