Cat's hole, New find Cat's hole B.

New passage pushed in Cats Hole.

Cats Hole B

Sorry @⁨Bryan caving⁩, @⁨Mark⁩ the new hole was pushed.

Ray went to show me where the room was and I gauged thst I could fit after we moved one boulder. We rigged a 10m rope and without any srt kit played about with rigging carabiniers into a descender. After finding a suitable config we need up just converting to a belay system.

The room dropped 2m into a boulder chokes room. A passage right was first expired but terminated quickly. And a way left was looked as as well.

Similar atmosphere than the entrance rooms Bryan and I explore in Cradle hole.

At the floor of the room the stream way was met. Water levels was considerably lower as Ray pronounced.

Here at the stream way you directly meet where the stream drains through boulders. A waterfall can be heard on the other side of the rocks and I suspect the sound to be of it landing in deep water.

I explored the entrance access to stream way but the only way on was to follow the stream.

What followed was ~20m of very tight boulder choked passage at water level. Everything fit but had to be cautious. Several accesses to higher boulders but none explored.

Some true ducks up waterfalls and controsion brough me into a room with bedrock on the far wall.

I suspect this is the far side of Cats hole.

Here 2 sumps were met. A flowing sump emanating from under a boulder and a static sump situated in a rift. Both warrant a visit but it will be a sporty bit of caving to get them there.

Bearing of the stream way was 130° facing upstream

Bearing of the rift sump was 200°

Before visiting cats hole we measured and used compass bearing to find where the new way in Freda's went towards.

Opposed to Cofac findings we drew the conclusion that it is headed towards Cats Hole. Quite close actually to where these 2 sumps were located in Cats Hole B.

Potential for these to link. However if they do it leaves real question for how the river connects to Pollthanarees because it mustloop back around itself since the flow was disappearing to the right north of the passage not the south as pollthanarees is located.

After cats hole b we entered the Canal and found it also to be very low. I as always was in wetsuit and proddedwith my feet. Worth an investigative dive just to see how she goes. Lots still underwater.

A different access to the canal was opened with potential for diving prospects so again worth visiting. And cavity under a boulder on the SW side of the Canal seems promising as well.

From there we went and did our original planned projects in Pollasillagh.
